I found this on the SWG site pretty early in my fanfic discovery, while I was in a "I want more Dawn fic" binge mood after reading AMC, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I only recall bits of the movies (I chanced on them sometime in adulthood) and while they seemed pure escapism, this contained both the element of fun as well as a lot more food for thought.

I've only just seen your map! Or rather your photo of it!! (And you know how much I love maps!) I really like the way you're l you've drawn it.

I'm really sorry to hear about Lancelot though. Knowing this bit of background, and thinking of where the story went and the mood it took on in the later chapters, it seems clear where some of the deeper feelings it evokes comes from.

Even when I set out to do a just-for-fun piece, like this one, I struggle not to introduce serious elements into it. I'm a literary writer through and through, I guess; I can't really do pure escapism. (Likewise, a friendly challenge to write Feanor/Erestor smut turned into By the Light of Roses, a novella exploring my anger over the at-the-time federal ban on same-sex marriage in the U.S. ...)

And I will admit that a lot of the purpose of the story was getting to draw that map! :DDD
